"Four hours before the Police bade their final farewell to Britain, a karaoke contestant called Steve was belting out Message in a Bottle in a tent a few hundred feet from Hard Rock Calling's main stage. A middle-aged man in a Stranglers T-shirt, Steve had a gritty voice for a Sting stand-in, but still he managed what none of the afternoon's paid acts could - he got a crowd going crazy."

This is the opening paragraph of The Times review of The Police’s last ever UK appearance at HARD ROCK CALLING in 2008 (01 july 2008 - click here for full article). Steve was actually called Simon and the karaoke was infact ROCKAOKE! It illustrates perfectly how ROCKAOKE can be the highlight of absolutely any event!

ROCKAOKE have become a regular crowd pleaser at UK festivals.

In 2007, ROCKAOKE were invited to play at V2007 by Virgin Radio in their VIP area, sharing the stage with acts like Manic Street Preachers, The Kooks, The Fratellis, KT Tunstall, Paulo Nutini and McFly. The band were joined on stage by Al Murray (singing Queen of course), James Nesbitt and Christian O'Connell.

A monster night at the Camden Crawl 2010 aftershow party has led to ROCKAOKE being given their own day at The Ice Wharf, Camden Crawl 2011. But the band’s biggest festival nights so far came at Download 2010. With Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Biffy Clyro, Ronnie James Dio, Motorhead, Wolfmother etc... added to a setlist bursting with anthemic rock classics, ROCKAOKE headlined 2 nights in the Bell Tent. Around 1500 flocked in to see the shows and a lucky 50 or so got the chance to sing their favourite songs on a massive stage!

Ultimate Brand Experience

Several major brands have engaged ROCKAOKE to provide exciting, edgy, interactive, fun and above all memorable entertainment as part of their experiential marketing campaigns at major UK festivals.

ROCKAOKE have been the mainstay of GAYMER CIDER’s brand experience at festivals for the last 3 years (2008-2010) with appearances at Hard Rock Calling, Wireless, Rockness, Latitude, Big Chill, Leeds and Bestival. 2010 also saw ROCKAOKE team up with NESTLE and appearances on the KIT KAT CHUNKY stage at V and Reading.

Gaymers brand activity at festivals in 2008-09 was featured as an EVENTS Magazine"Brand Watch Case Study" in April 2009.

In april 2011, ROCKAOKE are set to feature as part of VOLVO’s “Who’s The Star In The Car” events at Snowbombing, Austria. And the band are also set to appear at the JOHN LEWIS sponsored Marvellous Festival in july.

Headline your own festival

At TRIBUTE 2010 in Belfast, festival-goers were given the opportunity for the first time EVER to headline their own music festival! The search for talent, and the best pint of Guiness, had started 18 months earlier at ROCKAOKE's first appearance at the city's Empire Music Hall. A small tour in early 2010 cast the net westward to Derry and south of the border to Dublin.

Three great tribute bands opened the show on 15th may 2010. And the best all-Ireland talent we could find were left to headline the show.

The ROCKAOKE craic was in full-flow.

Small is Beautiful

Although veterans at several major festivals, the band generally agree that their favourite festival experiences have come at the smaller boutique festivals. 2011 will see ROCKAOKE's 4th consecutive appearance at Standon Calling and their 3rd year at Winterwell and Lounge On The Farm. Apart from anything else, the food is better, the toilets cleaner, the queues shorter and the vibe is just as cool as it gets.
